Annual Crawfish Boil with Gubenatorial Candidates

All ages are invited to a crawfish boil and social in historic Leiper’s Fork at Moonshine Hill on Sunday, April 18th. Come join us for a fun and relaxing evening and crawfish, shrimp, and gumbo. Bring your lawn chairs to enjoy the live band and your fishing poles to take advantage of the stocked pond.

YR Political Action Committee

The Tennessee Young Republicans PAC is now up and running with a balance of $2,500. We hope to raise at least $10,000 to contribute to Republican candidates in the 2010 election cycle, but we cannot reach that lofty goal without the generosity of Young Republicans across the state. We hope that any YR who is able to do so will consider donating so that we can provide as much help as possible next year to Republican candidates all across Tennessee.

If anyone would like to help raise money for the PAC, we have spots open on our finance committee. Raising money for an organization is one of the best ways to gain fundraising experience before doing it for a campaign.

State YR Quarterly Meeting

The 4th Quarter Board Meeting will be this Saturday, November 21st in Germantown at 10 a.m. We were previously planning to do it prior to a Brian Kelsey for State Senate campaign event but the event is no longer set for that day. We will now have the meeting at Brian’s campaign headquarters located at 1876 Malabar Dr. in Germantown.

Let me know if anyone wants to add anything to the agenda or has any other questions. Remember, there are lodging options for any of you driving a long way to the meeting.

In addition, there will be plenty of opportunities to help Brian after the meeting. Also, please encourage your club members to make calls for Brian. This is a special election and it’s extremely important that we keep calling Republicans and reminding them to vote. I can email phone lists and a script to anyone willing to make calls.

Pat Marsh – Get Out the Vote

Pat Marsh is our Republican candidate for TN State House District 62 and he needs your help. This Saturday, Sept. 26^th, the Pat Marsh campaign will be conducting a district wide door-to-door blitz. And we need your help!

We need Door Knockers, Phone Callers, Letter writers and Sign Wavers.

We will be meeting up in 3 locations on Saturday:

Shelbyville - The volunteers heading to Bedford County will be meeting up at the Marsh Campaign Headquarters at 211 Lane Parkway, Shelbyville, TN. Meet at 9:00 am.

Lincoln County - The volunteers heading to Lincoln County will be meeting up at the Marsh Lincoln County Headquarters at 200 N Main Street, Fayetteville, TN. Meet at 9am.

Rutherford County - The volunteers heading to Rutherford County will be meeting up at the Shelbyville office at 211 Lane Parkway, Shelbyville, TN. Meet at 9am.

Tea Party Training – Sept. 26

If you are in Tennessee, or just want to be in Tennessee, Tea Party Nation and the Midsouth Tea Party are sponsoring an “Organizing for
Tennessee” seminar, this Saturday, the 26th, at 9:00AM.

We will have some great information, and it is not specific to Tennessee. If you are interested in attending, please RSVP as soon as possible. We are half way full.

Here are the details:

The seminar will include the history of the Tea Party Movement, Liberal Ideology and what it means for us and the historical dejavous of what is happening under this tyrannical government we are fighting against.

Next we will move on to how to Organize in your counties/communities. How to form a non-profit for your county’s tea party if you find the need to do so, how to use social and electronic media to organize for action and news (such as TPN, Facebook, Twitter, Texts, Emails, phone banks).

Finally, political campaigns will be covered. How to run for office, what political campaigns actually do and how to help a candidate you believe in get elected.

Packets for you to use and take home will be handed out as you arrive so you can get started immediately. The cost is $10 per person to cover the cost of the meeting room and packets. We are limited to 100 participants.

The seminar will be taped and available on the site to help everyone get organized here in TN and in other states.

Kirkpatrick Meets WCYR

Tennessee Gubernatorial candidate Joe Kirkpatrick was the featured speaker at September’s Williamson County Young Republicans’ meeting. Also stopping by were TN State Rep. Glen Casada and TN State Sen. Jack Johnson.

Kirkpatrick engaged members with his views on a variety of issues, even differentiating himself from other candidates by calling for an end to Tennessee’s Hall Income Tax.
