Williamson County Young Republicans is an active group of young conservatives and politically-interested individuals. We have members serving with the state Young Republicans, as well as with the Williamson County GOP Executive Committee. In recent years, we've had a number of members serve on prominent campaigns and even run for local offices themselves. We meet every month except December on the second Tuesday of the month. Our meeting location changes periodically, but for now, we meet at the Flying Horse restaurant next to The Factory in Franklin. Meetings officially start at 7:00, but folks generally show up around 6:30 to socialize. We will often have politicians or other political figures speak. Meetings are open to anyone. In addition to the regular meetings, WCYR has several informal socials throughout the year. Typically our social committee will choose a bar or restaurant, and we'll meet for happy hour one night during the week. In December, we host an annual Christmas party for our members and guests. In April of 2007, we held our first crawfish boil, Fais Do Do, which we hope to make an annual event. Typically, WCYR is a social organization, meeting to network and talk about the latest local news. However, during campaign season, our members have ample opportunities to meet the candidates and get involved, either through cooperative efforts with the Williamson County GOP or through the many contacts they make with the various campaigns. Membership is open to anyone aged 18-40. Dues are $15 per year. If you would like to join, please visit the Join Today page. |
